Artist's Description

Cocktail art in still life motif of a Mai Tai with flowers, fruit, and hula figurines. Drink art created for this unique collection of artist Steve Simon is a slightly unusual theme for the landscape painter. Simon's usual attention and passion for the landscape is directed instead at the beverages which have in part become part of the places themselves. A Mai Tai drink is framed in this cocktail art still life with various items we have come to associate the Hawaiian Islands with. Sea shells, tropical flowers, pineapple, and, of course, hula girls for a bit of whimsy accent the feeling of Hawaiian aloha. An outdoor setting with a suggestion of the ocean rounds out the composition.

About Steve Simon

Steve Simon

STEVE SIMON was raised outside Chicago by immigrant parents from Luxembourg. As a youth, Simon enjoyed drawing but eventually pursued more technical interests. After receiving his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Simon practiced engineering in Germany. He later returned to Chicago to work as a management consultant. While in Chicago, Simon participated in oil painting workshops in the evenings but still did not consider an art career. Still searching for his calling, Simon chose to pursue an MBA in international business during which he studied in Paris, New York, Tokyo, and nine other cities throughout eastern Europe and Asia. At this point, his travels had brought him to over thirty countries as the cultural exposure...
